Silo blockage removal begins with one agreed fault history. Keep the alarms, valve movement and actual discharge in sequence, because the contractor needs to distinguish stored material from a mechanical fault before deciding where to work.
Once the likely restriction is placed, the work plan turns to released material. The receiving point below the silo needs enough free capacity, and the crew needs a way to stop if more product moves than expected. Any valve, conveyor or feeder already under investigation stays on a separate mechanical task.
After discharge returns, the site decides how and when production restarts. The cleaning record states what was removed, which path opened and whether material remains on the wall or above the outlet. That distinction prevents restored flow from being mistaken for a complete internal clean.
If the job crosses a shift change, pass on the same isolation status and receiving-capacity limit. A shortened verbal handover can turn yesterday’s safe boundary into today’s wrong assumption.

Read the operating sequence once
When the valve opens normally but no product reaches the feeder, the restriction is likely above the valve. If the level falls while the feeder remains empty, connected equipment also needs checking. Put those observations in time order with the alarms and last normal discharge. The site then knows what was directly observed, the contractor knows which part of the system needs review, and nobody has to test uncertain material from beneath the outlet.
Work proceeds from a controlled position, with released material, remaining material and any separate de-bridging need recorded. The work order also names the receiving point for loosened material.
Before material is loosened, the receiving point must have enough capacity and remain clear of people. The method should not force build-up into a valve or conveyor that is already restricted. Once flow returns, the agreed route can be observed and remaining wall build-up recorded separately. Start with why silo material stops flowing, then compare blocked silo outlets. If the symptoms suggest material spanning the cone, the relevant service is silo de-bridging.
Information from operators helps narrow the blockage
Operators often know whether the motor load changed, an alarm appeared, a valve failed to travel or flow became intermittent before stopping. Include those observations with the level and product history. They may show that the restriction is not wholly inside the storage vessel.
