Flow problem

Cross-Contamination Risk

Trace the outgoing and incoming products through every shared contact point. Residue at one outlet lip can matter more than untouched wall elsewhere in the silo.

Flow problem

Trace residue across the shared product route

The surfaces common to two products may be limited to seams, the cone, outlet and transfer route. A whole-vessel claim is not a substitute for tracing those contacts.

Infused Media receives the enquiry. The response identifies the independent cleaning contractor that will quote for and carry out any work you appoint.

Cross-contamination risk is assessed along the route shared by both products. The site’s quality team identifies the required contact points and later check; the contractor records only the physical areas it reached.

The changeover record needs the previous and next material, any relevant allergen or compatibility information, the changeover date and the site’s completion checks. Identify the silo, transfer points, outlet, internal features and connected equipment that sit inside or outside the proposed cleaning plan.

Bring both products into the cleaning brief

Residue may remain in filters, feeders, transfer lines or shared plant. Name each included area and assign any excluded equipment to the appropriate site or specialist team.

Trace the outgoing product through ledges, cone surfaces, outlet fittings and any connected route included in the work. At an outlet lip or transfer connection, residue can touch both the outgoing and incoming product even when the main wall looks clear. Trace both products through every shared point named in the work; the site’s quality team then decides what check is needed before release.

For ingredient storage, see food-grade silo cleaning. The guide to product and contamination information helps build the brief. Read planning around product changeovers before fixing the available time.

Residue caught at a seam and outlet may contact both the outgoing and incoming ingredient even if most of the wall is visibly clear.

Who decides whether the silo is ready for the next product. The cleaning record covers the agreed surfaces. The site applies its own sampling, inspection and product-release process afterwards.
